Charles Jouffre, Upholsterer for over thirty years:


1975: Apprenticeship and evening classes at the Saint-Etienne Fine Arts College 
1977: Improvement with the Compagnons du Tour de France in Strasbourg
1978: Own three-year tour of France, spending time with the finest craftsmen in Roanne, Lyon and Paris
1981: Joined an internationally-renowned interior design company based in Annecy
1982: Became Upholstery Quality Manager, supervising major sites in France, England, Switzerland, Morocco, Gabon and the United States
1987: Founded the company and installed a craft workshop in Lyon's 6th district
1989: Opened at rue Daru in Paris 8
June 1989 : Quality label - "Grand Prix des Métiers d'Art" - Lyon city
1990: Created a Moroccan subsidiary in Rabat (interior scene)
1991: Bought out Ets. Dangmann, specialist in
top-of-the-range seating
1995: Created a “Couture” line of sofas, presented at the renowned Biennale de la decoration in Paris
1996: Bought out Schwartz, the very well-known company trading in Paris 11 since 1921
1997: Grouped activities on a single 2,500 m2 site in Lyon-Villeurbanne
1997: Open a Schwartz showroom in Paris 12
1998: First steps in New York with the Bellecour Committee/Exhibition at the New York Design Center
1999: Bought out the Duchesse Brisée boutique in the heart of the prestigious antiques district of Paris 6
2000: Founded a subsidiary company in New York (Ateliers Charles Jouffre US)
2001: Open an intermediary workshop in New York in the Soho district of Manhattan
2002: Installed an Ateliers Charles Jouffre corner in the Séccotine boutique at Val d’Isère
2003: Produced the sumptuous decors and wall hangings for the Grand Foyer of the Opéra Garnier in Paris
2003 : Quality label - "Griffe Lyonnaise, Artisanat d'Art"
2004: Presented a Haute Couture tablecloth creation to the restaurant owned by Daniel Boulud in New York for the charity gala in aid of Citymeals on Wheels
2006: Move from Soho in 2001 to Brooklyn
December 2006 : Quality label - " EPV : Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant"
2007: Signed a partnership agreement with the company Pierre Frey which will henceforth be the commercial intermediary for the entire Schwartz range of sofas. Ateliers Charles Jouffre are concentrating on their core business: creating specific decors and sofas for the greatest interior design architects throughout the world
April 2007 : The Ateliers Charles Jouffre celebrate theirs 20 years !
2009 : Setting up of the New York office in the centre of Manhattan. The workshops is always in Brooklyn
